While addressing the Ramnath Goenka lecture in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi fiercely targeted Congress by referring to the mentality of slavery. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who was present in this program, has praised PM Modi’s address. The Thiruvananthapuram MP posted on X that the Prime Minister emphasized that India is no longer just an emerging market but an emerging model for the world.
Shashi Tharoor praised PM Modi
Shashi Tharoor wrote, “Prime Minister Modi said that he has always been accused of being in an election mood, but in reality he was in an emotional mood to solve the problems of the people. An important part of the speech was focused on reversing Macaulay’s 200-year-old legacy of slavery mentality.”
Tharoor was listening to PM in the audience
He said, “PM Modi called for a 10-year national mission to restore pride in India’s heritage, languages and education system. I wish he had also acknowledged how Ramnath Goenka used English to raise the voice of Indian nationalism. Overall, the Prime Minister’s address served as both an economic vision and a cultural clarion call, calling on the nation to be restless for progress. Despite battling a cold, it was a pleasure to be in the audience.”
PM Modi targets Congress by mentioning Macaulay
While addressing the program in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused Congress of carrying forward the thinking of Thomas Babbington Macaulay. He said, “Macaulay was determined to break the back of India’s education system and was successful in doing so. He ensured that the British language and British thinking got more recognition during that period and India bore the brunt of it in the centuries to come.”
