Mallikarjun kharge on shashi tharoor: Party President Mallikarjun Kharge has reacted to the controversy over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s praise by senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor. He lashed out at Tharoor and said, “The country is first for us, but for some people, Modi is the first.” This is being considered as the most sharp message from the Congress leadership to Tharoor.
In the past, many partners of the party have tightened the statements of Pahalgam attack and ‘Operation Sindoor’ about Tharoor’s statements. But Kharge’s comment is directly considered criticizing Tharoor’s attitude.
Kharge’s response to Tharoor’s article
This response of Kharge has come up with the article that Shashi Tharoor recently wrote in ‘The Hindu’ newspaper. In this article, he appreciated India’s foreign policy after ‘Operation Sindoor’ and wrote that Prime Minister Modi’s energy, activism and desire for dialogue remains India’s “major property” on the global stage and it should get more support.
This remark of Tharoor passed out to many Congress leaders, especially at a time when the opposition is continuously questioning the government’s foreign policy and ways to deal with terrorist attacks. Tharoor’s comments are considered to be different from the party’s strategy, which has deepened the differences between the Congress leadership and the former diplomat.
Tharoor gave clarification
During a program in Moscow, Shashi Tharoor clarified that his article was not “effort” to join BJP, but it was a statement of India’s unity, national interest and standing in support of the country.
The Congress distanced himself from this comment from Tharoor. Party spokesperson Supriya Srinet told the media, “This may be his personal opinion, but it is not the Congress party’s opinion. It is not the Congress’s approach because we have spoken with facts and evidence.”
Khage took a pinch
Now Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has also taken a dig at this matter. He said, “Tharoor saheb gets English very good. I cannot read English properly. His language is very good, so we have made him a member of the Congress Working Committee.” Kharge also said that after the Pahalgam attack, in which 26 innocent people lost their lives, the entire opposition had said to stand with the army. “We said that the country comes first, the party later. But some people believe that ‘Modi first, the country later’. What can we do now?”
