Salman Khan’s upcoming film ‘Battle of Galwan’ is stuck in a big controversy storm. Even before the release of the film, China is furious. Chinese media has directly accused this film of twisting the facts. Not only this, China even demanded the Indian Government to intervene in this matter. But now the big twist in this controversy came when the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India clearly said that the government has nothing to do with this film. Recently during a press conference, when MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal was asked about ‘Battle of Galwan’, his answer was quite direct and clear. He said, “We know that such a film is being made, but matters related to film making are handled by the relevant authorities. The Ministry of External Affairs has zero role in such films or projects.” This means that it is clear that the government has completely distanced itself from this controversy. Earlier in December 2025, government sources had also said that film makers in India have full right to freedom of expression. Expressing one’s views through films is part of his creative freedom. If anyone has a problem with this film, then he should talk to the Defense Ministry, the government is not a part of this story. Let us tell you that ‘Battle of Galwan’ is based on the Galwan Valley clash between India and China in the year 2020. In this clash, about 200 Indian soldiers faced about 1200 Chinese soldiers. According to India, about 40 Chinese soldiers were killed in this, while China still accepts only 4 deaths. 20 Indian soldiers were also martyred in this clash. China’s anger increased further when the teaser of the film was released on Salman Khan’s birthday. As soon as the teaser came out, China’s official newspaper Global Times became the attacker. Global Times claimed that the events of June 2020 shown in it do not match the real facts. The newspaper also said that Bollywood films are mostly based on emotion and entertainment, hence history is not shown properly in them. Not only this, China also made the controversial claim that Galwan Valley is inside China’s border, and directly blamed India for the clash. However, India has not overreacted to this entire issue. There is a clear message from the government… This is a creative project of a film maker, not the official story of the Government of India. Now the question is whether China is afraid that this story will expose its image at the international level?
