DIIs investment record 2025: Amidst the ongoing global turmoil, Indian domestic institutional investors have shown their confidence in the Indian stock market. In the calendar year 2025, Indian investors have invested a total of Rs 6 lakh crore in the stock market. According to the data released by BSE, after 2007, this has been the year with the highest investment so far.
That means, in 2025, domestic investors have placed huge bets on the stock market. At the same time, in the year 2024 this figure was Rs 5.26 lakh crore. Domestic investors have invested their money in banks, domestic financial institutions, insurance companies, mutual funds and new pension schemes.
exit of foreign investors
According to NSDL data, foreign investors have sold heavily in the calendar year 2025. Foreign investors have withdrawn $23.3 billion (about Rs 2.03 lakh crore) from the Indian stock market. However, this year some foreign investors have invested about Rs 49,590 crore showing confidence in the Indian stock market. Due to the ongoing problems at the global level, foreign investors are choosing the path of selling.
America has imposed 50 percent tariff on India. Besides, the fees for H-1B visa have also been increased. Due to which foreign investors are not showing confidence in the Indian stock market. They are turning to other markets of the world for safe options. Mahesh Patil of Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC told Business Standard that in terms of global investment, maximum investment was made in America, China, Germany and Brazil. At the same time, investors withdrew their money from Japan, India and South Korea.
How will the trends be in future?
Market experts believe that in the coming times also, domestic investors can maintain their faith in the Indian market. Indian investors are continuously investing money on SIP. Due to which the market is getting strengthened. According to experts, domestic institutional investment may increase further in the calendar year 2026. If any major event happens at the global level, it will impact the Indian market as well. Things may change in this situation.
