Former Australian Cricketer Bob Cowper Dies at the age of 84: Former Australian cricketer Bob Cowper died at the age of 84. He was fighting cancer for a long time. Cowper lost the war of cancer on Saturday morning and breathed his last in Melbourne. The left -handed batsman retired from cricket at the age of 27. But he created history in a small career itself. This player had shown the feat in Test cricket that even the great Don Bradman could not do.

Cricket Australia has mourned the death of Bob Cowper. He posted on X and wrote, “Today, Australian is mourning the death of cricket. Bob was a great left -handed batsman who scored 5 Test centuries for Australia, including a great triple century on MCG in 1966. Our views are with Bob’s family, friends and teammates.”

Cowper has played 27 Test matches for Australia. During this, he has scored 2061 runs at an average of 46.84. Cowper has played most of his first class cricket for Victoria. During this, he has scored 10,595 runs in 147 matches. He has also taken 183 wickets. Cowper had shown what Bradman of the world’s great batsmen could not do in his small cricket career.

Cowper did that who could not even Bradman

Cowper was the first batsman to score a triple century on Australia soil. Even this feat was not able to do veteran batsman Bradman. Bradman has scored two triple centuries in his career. But both of them have come to foreign land. Cowper’s record was tremendous in Australia. His average in Australia was 75.78. Cowper Bradman is the highest Test average batsman after Bradman. Cowper retired from cricket in 1968 at the age of just 27 to focus on business.
