During the Gen-Z movement in Nepal, Rajalakshmi Painter, wife of former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal, died on Tuesday (September 9, 2025) amidst violence and political upheaval. The protesters attacked the residence of former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal after violence erupted in the capital Kathmandu. After this, the protesters vandalized his residence.
Meanwhile, the miscreants beat Rajalakshmi Painter, wife of former Nepal Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal and bled him and after that he caught fire in his house. Rajalakshmi was seriously injured in this fire and died during treatment.
The miscreants first imprisoned in the house, then set fire
This painful incident took place at his residence of former Prime Minister in Dallu, Nepal. The protesters beat Rajalakshmi Painter badly and imprisoned the house. After this, he set fire to the house. According to family members, he was taken to Kirtipur Burn Hospital in critical condition, where he died during treatment.
According to local media reports, party leader Naresh Shahi said in this regard that Rajalakshmi suffered a lot of serious injuries and was admitted to the ICU for treatment at Nepali Sena Hospital in Cantonment, but died of sad death during treatment.

Jhalanath was already saved with the help of army
Naresh Shahi said that Rajalakshmi was present at her house with her son Nirbhik Khanal. Meanwhile, the protesters reached there and carried out the whole incident. However, Nepal’s army had rescued former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal before the incident of arson in the house. But during this time his wife got caught in the clutches of the protesters and this tragic incident happened.
