Former village head Jai Singh was beaten to death with bricks, stones and sticks on Wednesday in Devpur village of Aliganj area in Etah district of Uttar Pradesh. Old election rivalry is said to be the reason behind the incident. Angered by this incident, the relatives of the deceased and the villagers created a ruckus by keeping the dead body in the police station, due to which tension spread in the entire area and the administration had to call police from several police stations.
The police pacified the family members and villagers and sent the body for post-mortem. The police have registered a case based on the complaint of the family members and have started action. Shyam Singh, Prem Singh, Shanil etc. have been accused of attack. Ruling party’s regional MLA Satyapal Singh Rathore reached Aliganj police station. Aliganj CO Nitish Garg, Inspector Sindhosh Sengar and forces from half a dozen nearby police stations are on the spot.
What is the whole matter?
According to news agency PTI, family members have informed that Pradhan Jai Singh (70), who was the head of Devpur three times, was returning home from Aliganj on a motorcycle on Wednesday afternoon. Then on the way, there was a dispute with the current chief Amit Fauji and his family members regarding the lifting of soil from the plot of son-in-law Netrapal Fauji.
It is alleged that during this time, people from the Pradhan party surrounded Jaisingh and brutally attacked him with bricks, stones and sticks. He told that after the incident, the family took the injured Singh to the Community Health Center in Aliganj where the doctors declared him dead.
The commotion lasted for two hours
According to the villagers, as soon as they heard the news of Jai Singh’s death, the family members got furious and kept the body in the police station and started demanding action. During the uproar that lasted for about two hours, a large crowd of villagers gathered at the police station. As soon as information about the incident was received, SDM Jagmohan Gupta, CO Aliganj Nitesh Garg and MLA Satyapal Singh Rathore reached the spot. He pacified the family members by convincing them.
Accusation of murder due to personal rivalry
The deceased’s son Sarvesh alleged that Pradhan Amit, Shyam Singh and Prem Singh along with their associates had murdered his father. The family members of the former Pradhan told that there was enmity between the two sides since the defeat in the 2021 elections and at that time too there had been incidents of firing and stone pelting.
Tension continues in the village
Police sources said that in view of the situation, a large police force has been deployed in the area. Aliganj police area officer Nitish Garg said that based on the complaint of the family members, a report has been registered and efforts are being made to arrest the accused of murder.
