Rafale fighter jets deal: Indonesia has signed a 42 Rafale fighter jet deal with France despite the Chinese-Pakistan propaganda against Rafale fighter Jet of Indian Air Force during Operation Sindoor. The deal was signed in Jakarta on Wednesday (28 May 2025) in the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron.
Eric Tapir, CEO of Dassault Aviation Company, said that Indonesia will get the first Rafale fighter jet in 2026. French Indusault Aviation Company manufactures Rafale fighter jets.
Rafale fighter jet caused havoc in Pakistan
During Operation Sindoor, Sukhoi fighter aircraft as well as Rafael Fighter Jet’s scalp, hammer and Mitayor missiles had caused tremendous damage to Pakistani airbase and terrorist camps in a tremendous manner. However, soon after the attack, the government media of Pakistan and China started promoting the true news of Rafael’s failure.
It has now become clear that only after the success of Operation Sindoor, Indonesia has done Rafale Deal from France, although the matter was going on for a long time in both countries. Even the Chinese media had blown up the news that Indonesia has canceled the Rafale deal.
India signed a 26 Marine version deal from France
The Indian Air Force also operates 36 Rafale fighter aircraft for France since 2019. Last month, India signed the 26 Marine version of Rafale fighter aircraft from France. According to the deal, France will create a construction facility for the Rafale fighter jet in India, in addition to the 26 fighter jet, and will also set up an MRO (maintenance, repairing overhaling) centers.
According to the Ministry of Defense, like the 36 Rafale Fighter Jet Deal of the Air Force, the deal for the Navy has also been done between the Intergravement Agreements (IGA) i.e. the governments of the two countries. According to the deal, India will get 22 single seater deck-based fighter jets and four to two in trainer aircraft from France. Along with this, France will also have the responsibility of pilot training, simulator (virtual training), weapons and other military equipment and logistics.
There will be integration of indigenous weapons in Rafael
According to the Ministry of Defense, integration of indigenous weapons will also be done in Rafael under self -sufficient India. These weapons include Astra and BrahMos (anti-ship) missiles. French Dassault Company will manufacture Carrier-Burne Rafael fighter aircraft. It is believed that in the next three years, the Navy will get the first maritime version from Dassault. According to the Ministry of Defense, all the 26 aircraft will be found in the next five years of the year 2030 i.e. the signing of the deal.
The meaning of Rafael’s fusalaz and MRO facility being established in India means that if the Indian Air Force needs additional fighter aircraft in the near future, then only Rafael will fulfill that shortage.
Indian Navy needed Marine version of Rafael
The Indian Navy’s indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant has been ready. In the presence of Prime Minister Modi in September 2022, INS Vikrant in Kochi (Kerala) was included in the Navy’s warship, but India currently had no maritime fighter jet to deploy it.
In such a commissioning ceremony, the second aircraft carrier of the Navy, fighter jet, MiG-29 K on INS Vikramaditya, was posted on Vikrant. This is the reason that the Navy needed the Marine version of Rafael as soon as possible. The Indian Navy had deployed INS Vikrant in the Arabian Sea after the Tanatani started from Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack. During this time, MiG-29 was posted on Vikrant.
