A new version of fighter jet Rafale is coming. France has named this advanced version as Super Rafale, it is the F5 version of the fighter jet series. Its objective is to make stealth aircraft capable of war by 2040. France will buy 42 such Super Rafales.
Rafale was launched in the 1980s. Till now four versions of Rafale have been released. It has developed as a multirole fighter jet.
Features of Rafale F5?
According to 19 Forty Five website, Rafale F5 will be an upgraded version. It has the feature of controlling loyal wingman drone. These feature drones will work as electronic warfare, recon scout, SEAD and DEAD platforms, decoy system and stand off strike. Its sensor suite is being overhauled, jet radar is being upgraded to RBE2 AESA. This will provide the fighter jet with longer range and more bandwidth. Its fusion capacity will also increase. Besides, electronic warfare will also be upgraded. Apart from these, powerful jammer, high frequency coverage, geolocation system will also be upgraded in this fighter jet.
New weapons are being added to Super Rafale
New weapons are also being added to Super Rafale. With this, it will be compared to F-22 and F-35. This aircraft will be equipped with the capability of air-launched nuclear weapon ASN4G hypersonic nuclear missile, short long range MICA NG missile and MBDA A2A missile. This will also include weapons to destroy enemy air defense. Its top speed will be MAC 1.8. M88-4E will be added for this. The aircraft will be capable of attacking at a distance of approximately 1600 km. Apart from this, it will be capable of carrying weapons weighing 9.5 tonnes.
Will India buy F-5 Rafale aircraft?
India uses French fighter aircraft. According to the report, India can buy this new F-5 aircraft. The French government has said that India is planning to buy 90 Rafale F-4. Apart from this, there is also an option to buy 24 Rafale of India’s F-5. However, this information has been removed from the public space.
