So far, teams from 16 countries have appeared for the 2026 T20 World Cup. Pakistan has also announced its World Cup squad (Pakistan Squad T20 World Cup), due to which a big name like Haris Rauf is missing. The World Cup matches will be played in India and Sri Lanka and this tournament will run from 7 February-8 March. The squads of almost all the big teams have been announced, but the names of many great players are not included in them. Here is the list of those experienced and star players, who will not be seen playing in the T20 World Cup 2026.

Pakistan expelled Haris Rauf

Babar Azam has returned to the Pakistan team for the 2026 T20 World Cup, but Haris Rauf is out. Explaining the reason for this, coach Mike Hesson said that there was a discussion on including Rauf in the squad, but Shaheen Afridi, Salman Mirza and Naseem Shah can bowl in all three phases of the match (powerplay, middle overs, death overs), hence they were given more importance.

Livingstone and Ferreira also on leave

Talking about Liam Livingstone, his recent form has been very bad. After the 2024 T20 World Cup, he has scored 275 runs in 13 T20 innings. During this period, only one half-century came from his bat. In the year 2025, he played five T20 matches, in which he could score only 74 runs. This poor form remains the root of trouble for him.

South African wicketkeeper batsman Donovan Ferreira made his international cricket debut in 2023 and within just 2 years left a mark across the world with his stormy batting. Ferreira was given a place in South Africa’s provisional squad for the World Cup, but due to not recovering from the injury, he will have to miss the World Cup.

steve smith

In BBL 2025-26, Steve Smith created a stir with his batting and scored 299 runs in 6 innings. His average was 59.80 and strike rate was around 168. Smith hoped that this strong performance would earn him a place in Australia’s World Cup squad, but unfortunately it did not happen.

Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal had an ideal start to his T20 career. So far, he has scored 723 runs in 23 matches at an average of 36.15. Jaiswal’s strike rate is 164.31, while he has scored one century and five half-centuries in his T20 career of only 23 matches. But the opening batting slot is not vacant in the current team. Unfortunately he will have to miss the T20 World Cup.
