Electronic Goods Price Rise: From the shortage of gas cylinders to household electronics, the aftershocks of the ongoing war in West Asia are shaking the lives of the common man on every front. This time the team of ABP News visited Old Lajpat Rai Market, Asia’s oldest electronics market located in the capital Delhi, to ascertain the ground reality. Here the prices of everything from TV to washing machine, air conditioner and refrigerator are suddenly skyrocketing.
Market President Sanjay Nagpal clearly said in a conversation with ABP News, “The side effects of the war are not limited only to the countries involved in the war. It has started affecting neutral countries like us as well. The biggest need in our electronics market is chipsets, which are still imported. But due to this war, both air and sea shipments have been put on hold. Factories here are now struggling with the shortage of raw materials.”
The price of electronics is skyrocketing
Nagpal further said, “Here, ‘Made in India’ products are also being sold in this market, but due to the shortage of raw material of those products, the price of electronic goods has now increased by 5 to 15 percent. Be it LED TV, audio system, washing machine, fridge or AC, everything has been affected and this is just the beginning. The real shock will hit the general public after April 1.”
Giving an example, Nagpal said, “If my goods are lying in China, Taiwan or Dubai, then earlier the cost of bringing them was Rs 2 lakh per container, now it is coming at Rs 3 lakh. Its effective cost is falling directly on the goods coming. The most painful thing is that our exports to the Middle East have come to a complete halt. There are no customers there. The markets there are closed and electronic goods worth about $ 4.5 billion of the electric industry are being exported. It has stopped.”
32 inch TV increased from Rs 5700 to Rs 6400, 65 inch TV increased from Rs 28 thousand to Rs 32 thousand.
Talking to ABP News on the same issue, a shopkeeper, Arun Tuli, said, “We have TVs ranging from 24 inches to 100 inches and the prices of TVs of every size have increased. Now the impact of the war will increase further. The prices of plastic beads and copper are also skyrocketing, due to which air conditioners have become even more expensive. If the war continues for a long time, another increase of 10-15 percent is expected.” Are.”
Vice President of the market Surendra Advani said, “Our containers are now coming back from the war zone with great difficulty. Transportation charges have increased. The goods coming from the back are becoming expensive. A 65-inch TV which used to sell for Rs 28 thousand has now become worth Rs 32 thousand. More than half of the customers return after hearing the price. Only the old faith customers are taking it.”
Double hit on the pocket!
Advani further said that, “Manufacturers are telling us to keep watching for now, in future the goods will not be available at any price.” Customers said, first gas is expensive, now TV too… eating food in hotel.
A customer who came to buy LED TV told ABP News, “Earlier he had bought the TV for Rs 6500. Now the shopkeeper is quoting Rs 6800 without warranty. The one with warranty is worth seven and a half thousand. They are saying that the goods are getting expensive from behind. The rates have increased everywhere. How do we buy? We are facing a lot of trouble. First the gas became expensive, now gradually everything is getting expensive and I have been eating in hotels for the last one week because for the house. Cylinder not available.”
While roaming in the market, it is clearly visible that customers are now looking only for essential goods. The center of discussion in many shops is when will the war stop and when will normalcy return. At present, the common man’s pocket is being hit twice from domestic gas to domestic electronics.
