In view of the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has given ticket to outgoing MLA Professor Chandrashekhar from Madhepura. He filed nomination for the fourth time. During nomination, he gave complete details of his and his wife’s properties. In the financial year 2024-25, he has filed income tax return of Rs 26.73 lakh.
Professor Chandrashekhar has 80 grams of gold worth Rs 8 lakh, while his wife has 300 grams of gold worth Rs 30 lakh. He also has a licensed rifle worth Rs 65 thousand and 2 luxury cars.
Professor Chandrashekhar is not only counted among the strong faces of the Grand Alliance, but he is also among the leaders close to Tejashwi Yadav. It is being told that Chandrashekhar has been fielded keeping in mind the local equation and caste balance.
How much property does Professor Chandrashekhar own?
Chandrashekhar has movable assets worth Rs 32.33 lakh and his wife has assets worth Rs 1.64 crore. In immovable property, Chandrashekhar has 3 acres 30 decimal agricultural land in Bhelwa (worth Rs 64 lakh) and a 1200 square feet house at Danapur Saguna Mod in Patna (worth Rs 70 lakh). Thus, his total immovable assets are Rs 1.15 crore and movable assets are Rs 32.35 lakh. According to the affidavit, Chandrashekhar had taken a house loan of Rs 50 lakh in 2014, while a house loan of Rs 35 lakh is registered in his wife’s name in 2025.
Case regarding inciting religious sentiments
Chandrashekhar has done post-graduation from Kanpur University in 1985 and is currently working as Assistant Professor. His wife has been a teacher and is retired. At the same time, a total of 7 criminal cases are registered against him, out of which four are related to religious sentiments (controversial statements regarding Ramcharitmanas and Sanatan) and three are related to protests.
