The process of application for GATE 2026 (GARDUATE APTIDE TEST in Engineering) examination organized by IIT Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) is ending on 6 October 2025 today. Candidates who have not been able to apply yet, can immediately apply by visiting the official website gate2026.Iitg.ac.in.
This exam is one of the most prestigious examinations for candidates related to engineering, science and architecture. Through the gate score, not only does admission in the top institutions of the country – IIT, NIT and IISC – it also opens the way to get a job in government companies (PSUS) like BHEL, NTPC, ONGC, IOCL.
Who is organizing GATE 2026?
This year GATE 2026 is responsible for IIT Guwahati. The examination is being conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, IISC Bengaluru and all IIT institutions. This exam will be fully in computer based (CBT) mode.
Necessary dates related to application
The application process of GATE 2026 started from 28 August 2025. The last date for application is today i.e. 6 October 2025. At the same time, candidates who want to apply with late fees can apply by 9 October 2025. The examination will be conducted on 7, 8, 14 and 15 February 2026.
Application fee
The application fee for women, SC, ST and PWD candidates is Rs 1000, while for other candidates it is Rs 2000. If a candidate applies with late fees, then women/SC/ST/PWD candidates will have to pay Rs 1500 and other candidates will have to pay a fee of Rs 2500.
Required documents
Before applying for GATE 2026, candidates will have to keep some documents ready, passport size photo, digital signature, valid photo ID (such as Aadhaar card, PAN card or passport), category certificate (if applied), PWD or Dyslexic Certificate (if applied) and degree or eligibility certificate.
How to apply
The application process is completely online. Candidates will first have to visit gate2026.Iitg.ac.in. Click on the link “GATE 2026 Registration” on the homepage and register with your valid email ID and mobile number. After this, fill the application form by login, upload the necessary documents and submit the application fee. After submitting, download the confirmation page and keep the printout for the future.
