IIT Guwahati, which is included in the biggest engineering examinations, has released the provisional answer key of GATE 2026. Lakhs of candidates who appeared in GATE 2026 can now get an idea of how their paper went by looking at the answers to their questions. The answer key has been released for all subjects on 22 February 2026.
Candidates who appeared for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 examination can check their provisional answer key and their response sheet by visiting the official website gate2026.iitg.ac.in. For this, candidates will have to log in to GOAPS portal.
Correct assessment will be given from the response sheet.
Along with the answer key, response sheet has also been provided. All the answers given by the candidates are recorded in the response sheet. By matching the answer key, candidates can understand how many questions were correct and where mistakes were made. With this, the probable score can be estimated even before the result.
Objection window will open from 25th February
IIT Guwahati has also made it clear that the facility to register objection on the answer key will start from 25 February 2026. If any candidate finds any mistake in any question or its answer, he can register his objection within the stipulated time. This objection window will remain open till 28 February 2026.
There will be a thorough investigation of the objections
The Commission has said that all the objections lodged by the candidates will be investigated in depth. If during investigation it is found that there is a mistake in any question or answer, it will be corrected. After this, the final answer key will be released, on the basis of which the result of GATE 2026 will be prepared.

At present, no separate new date has been announced for filing objection on the answer key. However, information has been given on GOAPS portal to register objection from 25 to 28 February. Candidates have been advised to register their objections in time.
How to download GATE 2026 answer key
- First of all go to the official website of GATE 2026
- Click on the link of “Provisional Answer Key” on the home page
- After this GOAPS portal will open
- Enter your Enrollment ID and Password here
- Select your topic after logging in
- Answer PDF will open on the screen
- Now match your response sheet
How to raise objection on answer key
- First go to GOAPS portal
- Log in with Enrollment ID and Password
- Click on the option of “Answer Key Challenge”
- Select the number of the question in question
- Choose the correct answer option
- Upload necessary documents or evidence in your favor

- Submit your objection and save a copy
