Ghulam nabi azad on kashmir terror attack: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has expressed deep concern about the Pahalgam terror attack in a conversation with ABP News. He not only called it a security challenge but called it a direct attack on the social and religious unity of Kashmir.
Ghulam Nabi Azad said that it is very difficult to track the identity and activities of terrorists in inaccessible and hilly areas like Pahalgam. He believes that it is too early to reach a conclusion until a complete investigation is done. But this incident has given deep wounds to Kashmir.
“Was never murdered by asking religion”
The most shocking thing of this attack was that for the first time people were killed by asking religion. Azad said, “There was never a murder in Kashmir on the basis of which religion someone is from.” He described it as against the centuries -old Kashmiriyat and religious harmony of Kashmir. There is an atmosphere of mourning and anger in the whole of Kashmir due to this attack.
Lack of security was not denied
The former Chief Minister admitted that there may have been a lapse in security somewhere, but also said that it is not practical to deploy security forces at every hill and every tourist spot. He also added that “it is a very challenging task to make the land of Kashmir completely safe.”
Indo-Pak tension and impact on Kashmir
On the exemption of independent action by Prime Minister Modi, he said that any kind of military action has a direct impact on Jammu and Kashmir. “Villages on the border are the most affected.” He underlined the fact that the decision should be from collective thinking, not a conflict.
On the basis of religion, the murder was described by Ghulam Nabi Azad as the result of the current Army Chief of Pakistan and ISI’s thinking. He said, “Pakistan wants to divide India on the basis of religion, but we should not come under his move.”
Advice to political parties to be restrained
He advised all political parties to prevent their leaders from making controversial statements on the incident. Azad appreciated the steps taken by the Congress in this direction and said that “every party should make its leaders realize the responsibility.”
