He batted aggressively and scored 90 runs in 48 balls, but two special shots were seen in this innings, due to which Phillips is in a happy mood. Both his shots are going viral on social media, in which Phillips is seen hitting a six and a four. A shot of Glenn Phillips got a new name which did not exist till now. Now this shot will be known as ‘Switch Cover Drive’.

Glenn Phillips is dominating the domestic league Super Smash. Phillips is a right-handed batsman but he hit both these shots in lefty style. Phillips was playing for Otago and the match was against Central Districts, suddenly in the 19th over, Phillips played such a shot that everyone was stunned. Phillips changed from a right-handed stance to a left-handed stance; the bowler threw the ball towards the off stump to escape. But even here the bowler was not saved and Phillips hit a cover drive in cover lefty style and scored a four.

Earlier, a new shot was given to cricket by former England captain Kevin Pietersen, which became known as ‘Switch Hit’ across the world. After this, Suryakumar Yadav’s scoop shot was also much discussed. Now Philips has come up with Switch Cover Drive. Phillips also hit a six in this match, in which the right handed batsman became a left handed batsman and hit the six. This shot of his is also going viral.

Talking about his shots after the match, Glenn Phillips said, ‘I had practiced it for some time in net practice, but never came out openly. It is very interesting to play such shots in professional cricket. Last day in net practice, I was hitting better shots playing with my left hand than playing with my right hand. So when there was nothing left to lose, it seemed right to at least decide to give it a try.
