The Global Peace Index of 2025 has been released by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP). According to the report, Iceland has once again won the title of the world’s most quiet and safe country. Since 2008, this country has been in the first place continuously, which shows its stability and strengthening of social system. At the same time, India has missed this time on joining the list of top 100 countries.
163 independent countries and regions have been judged to prepare this index, which cover about 99.7% of the world’s population. In the GPI index, India is ranked 115th in 163 countries, but this is also the news of relief for India. In fact, according to the report of the Indian Express, India’s GPI score has been recorded at 2.229, which shows an increase of 0.58% in the level of peace compared to the previous year. This year, India’s ranking has seen an improvement.

The evaluation of the Global Peace Index 2025 has been the basis for three major aspects- social security, domestic and international conflict and militaryization. Iceland has scored the highest points this year on these standards. According to experts, low crime rate rate, strong tradition of mutual trust and the absence of army have maintained it the world’s safest country.

They have got the status of top ten most peaceful countries globally. The report states that Europe still remains the most peaceful region in the world and its dominance in this list.

The Global Peace Index 2025 report has counted sub-Sahara Africa and Middle East among the world’s most unstable and unsafe regions. At the bottom of the list, countries like Russia, Ukraine, Sudan, Congo and Yemen are present, where conflicts and violence are increasing continuously.
In South Africa, there has been a sharp decline in the situation of peace. At the same time, the situation has deteriorated due to civil unrest and oppressive policies in Bangladesh and Pakistan. The report states that political instability and social conflicts in these countries remain the biggest challenge in maintaining peace.
