Global Protests: In the last 6 months, a wave of unrest was seen all over the world, from South Asia to Europe and Africa. Rising inflation, anger among youth, political resistance, corruption and restrictions on freedom brought millions of people onto the streets. Nepal
Nepal saw one of its biggest political moments in September 2025. In fact, protests led by youth started in Kathmandu and other big cities. The reason for this was the government’s decision to ban popular social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Tik-Tok. Along with this, there was anger among the youth for a long time regarding corruption and unemployment. This protest soon turned violent due to which riots broke out. After this Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned.
bangladesh
Although the rebellion started earlier, its political consequences came in the last 6 months. Bangladesh’s student-led protests against the quota system in government jobs turned into a nationwide rebellion in mid-2024. By August 5, 2024, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was forced to resign and leave the country. However, after this, an interim government led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus is ruling Bangladesh till the beginning of 2026. But in the last few months, news of violence and massacre of Hindus keeps coming from there.
iran
Iran is currently facing its most serious internal crisis since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. The protests that started in late December 2025 over the declining economy, rising inflation and the historic collapse of the Rial quickly spread across the country. Although the government did not formally fall, unrest spread across the country.
France
In Europe, major protests took place in France between September and December 2025 over budget decisions, migration policy and parliamentary deadlock. Public anger increased further after the government tried to pass financial laws without full parliamentary approval. This unrest resulted in a successful voting on a no-confidence motion, which led to the fall of Prime Minister François Bayrou’s government.
madagascar
Madagascar faced violent protests in late 2025. The youth took to the streets protesting against the chronic shortage of electricity and water, rising unemployment and failures of governance. Demonstrations increased rapidly in big cities and in view of the crisis, President Andrey Rajoelina had to leave the country. The President dismissed his government.
