The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is now going to make major changes in the education and examination system of schools. Now children will get rid of the habit of passing only by rote learning. Under the new National Education Policy (NEP 2020), CBSE is going to launch a special online platform, which will tell how much the students have understood their subjects and whether they are able to use it in real life or not.

This change will not be limited only to the method of examination, but will also enhance the ability of children to think, understand and apply knowledge. Its objective is that the coming generation should not only be engaged in the race for marks, but should also remain ahead in real skills i.e. skills of the 21st century.

Exams will no longer be a fear, it will be a part of learning

In the new scheme of CBSE, examination will not be considered the end of studies, but an essential part of it. Now it will be seen how the student is using his learning. As per the recommendation of NEP 2020, the method of evaluation should be such that it motivates children to move forward and not make them dependent only on memory.

In this direction, CBSE has already implemented the Competency-Based Assessment Framework for classes 6 to 10. In this, the focus is on children’s understanding, reasoning and concepts on core subjects like science, mathematics and English.

What is SAFAL exam?

Now CBSE is introducing a new examination system for classes 3, 5 and 8 – SAFAL (Structured Assessment for Analyzing Learning). This online test will test students’ basic understanding, reasoning, application of knowledge and thinking ability.
