Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced great news for the civic volunteers before the assembly elections to be held in West Bengal. Mamata government has decided to give ad-hoc bonus to the civic volunteers of the state for the year 2025-26.
Under this decision, along with the civic volunteers working under West Bengal Police and Kolkata Police, rural police volunteers working in rural areas have also been included in this benefit.
Government issued official order
An official order in this regard has been issued by the Home and Hill Affairs Department of West Bengal on Thursday (March 19, 2026). According to the order, all the Civic Volunteers and Village Police Volunteers working under West Bengal Police and Kolkata Police will be given an ad-hoc bonus of Rs 7,400 per person in the year 2025-26.
How much bonus was given earlier?
In the order issued, it was told that these volunteers were given a bonus of Rs 6,800 per year for the year 2024-25, but now the State Finance Department (Audit Branch) has amended it and increased it to Rs 7,400 for the year 2025-26.
Decision after Governor’s approval
The order further stated that after considering the matter, West Bengal Governor R. N. Ravi has approved giving this ad hoc bonus to Civic Volunteers and Village Police Volunteers. This amount will be given to the beneficiaries in lump sum.
Who will get the benefit?
Under this decision of the state government, benefits will be given to Civic Volunteers of West Bengal Police, Civic Volunteers of Kolkata Police and Village Police Volunteers under West Bengal Police.
What is the entire administrative process behind the decision?
In this order, it has been made clear that the amount of ad hoc bonus will be released from the concerned account. This decision has been implemented under the Finance Department’s memo dated February 27, 2026 and the Principal Account General (A&E) of the state has also been informed about this.
