To increase the income of farmers and make them financially strong, the government is continuously implementing new schemes. In this direction, now farmers will get the benefit of “Sabzi Vikas Yojana”. Under this scheme, the seeds of vegetables will be made available to the farmers at a subsidized rate. It will directly benefit on the farmers’ pockets and there will be a big step towards self -sufficiency in vegetable production.

The main objective of the vegetable development scheme is to encourage farmers to cultivate vegetables and make them availability of seeds at easy rates. Under this, the government is providing seeds to farmers up to 75 percent grant. This will not only reduce the cost of farming but will also increase the income of farmers.

This scheme is for both raiyat and non-ray farmers. Rayat farmers will get a grant for farming up to 2.50 acres, while non-state farmers will be given a benefit of up to 0.25 acres. In this way, from small farmers to big farmers can avail this scheme.

Under the scheme, grants will be given on many types of vegetables. It includes hybrid vegetables such as broccoli, capsicum, tomato, cauliflower and cabbage. Apart from this, Rabi season vegetables like green peas, carrots, beets and brinjal are also included in the scheme. At the same time, the seeds of pudding season such as pumpkin, karela, okra, melon and watermelon will also be made available to farmers on 75 percent. Grants will also be available on onion seeds.

Under the scheme, farmers will get a minimum of 1000 and maximum of 10,000 at a subsidized rate. At the same time, a minimum of 0.25 acres and a maximum of 2.5 acres will be given for seed distribution. That is, farmers can take advantage of their farming.

The availability of seeds and bicols will be made through different centers. Vegetable middle “Center of Excellence” will meet Chandi (Nalanda), Desari (Vaishali), Katihar and Nursery in Koilwar in Bhojpur. At the same time, the seeds of vegetables will be made available through Bihar State Seed Corporation, Patna.

Farmers who want to take advantage of this scheme, they will have to apply online by visiting the official website horticulture.bihar.gov.in. For this, the application process will have to be completed by going to the “Vegetable Development Plan” column. Keep in mind, only registered farmers will be able to apply.

At the time of application, farmers will have to give land ownership certificate or updated revenue receipt. Apart from this, genealogy, monopoly or online updated receipts will also be valid. If the name of a farmer is not recorded in the land papers, then he will have to attach the lineage. Non-ray farmers can also take advantage of this scheme on the basis of monopoly.

Who can apply?

This scheme is only for the farmers of Bihar. The benefit will be given to the same farmer who cultivates vegetables in the prescribed districts of the state and is a registered farmer.

This initiative of the government is a big step towards making farmers self -sufficient in vegetable production. This will reduce the cost of farmers on one side, on the other hand their income will increase. Due to self -sufficiency in vegetable production, the economy of the district will also be strengthened and the availability of vegetables in the market will also increase.
