Finally, there is a relief news for Shreyas Iyer and Indian cricket fans. He had to undergo surgery after the injury suffered in the Sydney ODI and is still in the hospital. The good news is that Iyer is recovering fast and may soon be discharged from the hospital. Earlier, Indian T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav had given an update saying that he had spoken to Iyer on phone and he is better than before.
According to a report published in Cricbuzz, Shreyas Iyer is now out of danger. After coming out of ICU, he is recovering rapidly. According to the latest update, he has been advised to take rest for a week. BCCI and the Indian team management in Australia had handed over the responsibility of Shreyas Iyer to Dr. Rizwan Khan, who is also the physician of Team India. Rizwan has been keeping a close eye on Iyer’s health since the beginning.
Due to the advice of rest, Shreyas will remain in Sydney for about a week, after which he can return to India. As Suryakumar Yadav told that Iyer himself is now able to talk on the phone. Iyer himself is talking to his relatives on the phone and is also eating home-cooked food. Apart from this, Shreyas is also replying to messages using the phone. Shreyas Iyer’s friends present in Australia are providing him home food. At present it is being told that Iyer will remain under the complete supervision of doctors for at least a week.
It may take time for Shreyas Iyer to become fully fit and return to the field. There is every possibility that he may miss the ODI series against South Africa.
