India’s Urban Households to Spend: Amidst the steps taken for the GST reform, this news is going to prove to be a booster dose for the Indian economy. Between September and November, people of urban areas of the country are going to spend around 2.19 lakh crores (about $ 24.8 billion) within the next three months. According to the survey report of local circles, this figure is about 18 percent more than last year.

Last year, during this period, Rs 1.85 lakh crore was spent by people from urban areas. Meaning this time, about 73000 crore people are going to spend more.

Booster dose in this festive season

During the survey, 2 lakh people of 44 thousand houses were questioned and feedback were taken from them, in which 319 districts across the country were included. The most important thing is that during this survey, most of the men who responded to one third were women while two of the five were women.

It included 70 percent people from Tier-1 and Tier-2 cities while the rest were Tier-3 and Tier-4 people. The total average estimated expenditure of all these has been withdrawn based on the family living in urban areas of the country and their average expenditure pattern.

Why this year an increase in spending by 18 percent?

During the survey, there were about 15 percent of the people who indicated that their expenses can be below about 50 thousand to 1 lakh. Whereas, 25 percent of the people said that they will spend 20 thousand to 50 thousand rupees in the festive season during the next three months. The special thing is that in the report, it has been told that the reason for the increase in expenditure in the festive season is a plan to spend 20 thousand rupees above the families of urban areas, which is an increase of about 11 percent compared to the previous year.

The report said that due to the increase in spending in the festive weather, there is an increase in income and an increase in the sale of e-commerce. This year, Rakshabandhan also saw an increase of 75 percent in the expenses of people and it has increased to Rs 21000 crore in 2025 this year as compared to 12000.
