On the occasion of Prakash Parv Diwali, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given the gift of increase in the rates of Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) to 28 lakh employees and pensioners of the state. According to this decision of the Chief Minister taken on Thursday, now all the eligible 16.35 lakh employees and 11.52 lakh pensioners and family pensioners of the state will get the benefit of dearness allowance and dearness relief at the rate of 58 percent instead of 55 percent from July 1, 2025.

Announcing the increase, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the state government is fully committed to the interests of its employees and pensioners. Providing relief to them from the effects of inflation and improving their standard of living is our top priority.

This decision is a symbol of sympathy and respect.

He said that this decision is a symbol of sympathy and respect towards lakhs of employees and pensioners of the state. He expressed confidence that this gift of Diwali will bring new energy, happiness and prosperity in his life.

The benefit of this decision will be available to all the employees, including employees of aided educational and technical educational institutions, regular and full-time employees of urban local bodies, work-charged employees and employees of UGC pay scale.

Dearness allowance will be paid in cash

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also directed that the increased dearness allowance and relief should be paid in cash from the month of October 2025. This decision, taken in the larger interest, will impose an additional expenditure burden of ₹ 1960 crore on the state government by March 2026.

Let us tell you that in case of payment of dearness allowance and dearness relief in cash from the month of October, 2025, the expenditure will be ₹ 161 crore and ₹ 84 crore respectively in the month of November, 2025. There will be additional cash expenditure of ₹ 298 crore and ₹ 252 crore respectively in the month of November, 2025 on payment of arrears of dearness allowance and dearness relief from the month of July to September, 2025.

Thus, there will be a total additional cash expenditure of ₹ 795 crore in the month of November, 2025. ₹ 185 crore will be deposited in the GPF of the personnel covered by OPS, thereafter from the month of December, 2025, there will be an additional expenditure of ₹ 245 crore every month.
