Goverdhan puja 2025: According to the Hindu calendar, Govardhan Puja in India celebrates the first date of the Shukla Paksha of Kartik month i.e. one day after Diwali. This year Govardhan Puja is on 22 October 2025.
Govardhan Puja began as a thanks to Lord Krishna from Brajbhoomi and gradually it became prevalent all over India. Govardhan Puja is also called Annakoot or Annakoot, which means “mountain of food”.

How to celebrate Govardhan Puja?
The word Govardhan originated from Govardhan Parvat located in Gokul (Uttar Pradesh), which was raised by Lord Krishna with one hand. This festival is celebrated in memory of the child form of Lord Krishna. On this day, devotees worship Govardhan Parvat and offer 56 types of vegetarian food and sweets (fifty -six bhog), so that their gratitude can be expressed to God.

गोवर्धन पूजा में अन्नकूट के दौरान भगवान के नैवेद्य में (दाल, भात, कढ़ी, साग आदि ‘कच्चे’; हलवा, पूरी, खीर आदि ‘पक्के’; लड्डू, पेड़े, बर्फी, जलेबी आदि ‘मीठे’; केले, नारंगी, अनार, सीताफल आदि ‘फल’-फूल; बैगन, मूली, साग-पात, रायते, भुजिये आदि ‘सलूने’ और चटनी, मुरब्बे, Pickle etc. are offered to be sour-sweet and sweet.
