The maximum assistance from the government to start this work can be up to Rs 50 lakh. This means that if the cost of a project is around Rs 1 crore. So half of it can be given by the government. The objective of this scheme is to strengthen animal husbandry as a business and to provide new employment opportunities to the people.

Important rules to start donkey rearing
Under this scheme, some fixed conditions have also been laid down for starting donkey rearing. A minimum limit has been fixed for setting up a unit. It is stated that it is necessary to have at least 50 female and 5 male donkeys. Apart from this, this scheme is applicable to donkeys of native breeds. This benefit is not available for foreign breeds. Subsidy is not given directly all at once. Rather it is released in two stages. The first installment is received when the loan is accepted from the bank. So the second installment is given after the completion of the project.

In fact, the number of donkeys in the country has decreased rapidly in the last few years. According to animal census data, there has been a huge decline in their population in the last years. This is the reason why the government wants to reactivate this sector. Donkey rearing can not only help in livestock conservation but it also strengthens the rural economy. Through this scheme the government wants to attract people towards animal husbandry.
