Indian Railways and Indian Army have jointly started a new ‘Co-operation Framework’. Its purpose is to provide better job opportunities to the soldiers and firefighters retiring from the army, so that they can easily move from their military life to civilian life. This initiative has been started under the leadership of senior officers of Railway Ministry and Army. Its purpose is to give an opportunity to the soldiers who have served the country for another respectable career, so that they can continue their role in nation building.
Recruitment will be done on so many posts
According to the information, the Railway Ministry has decided that in order to quickly fill the vacant posts in the Railways, more than 5000 ex-servicemen will be hired on the post of ‘Pointsman’ on contract basis. These appointments will continue until the regular recruitment process is completed.
How much preparation has been done?
Let us tell you that the process for these posts has also started in different railway zones and divisions of the country. Till now, 9 railway divisions have also signed agreements (MoUs) with the respective army organizations, so that these recruitments can be done rapidly.
Apart from this, Railways has also made arrangements for special reservation for ex-servicemen and ex-fire warriors.
- 20% reservation for ex-servicemen in Level-1 posts
- 10% reservation in Level-2 and above posts
- 10% reservation for former firefighters in Level-1
- 5% reservation in level-2 and above
Ex-servicemen have already got jobs
Let us tell you that in the year 2024-25, a total of 14788 posts in railway recruitment were reserved for ex-servicemen. Of these, 6485 posts are of Level-1. Whereas, 8303 posts are of Level-2 and above. Level-1 recruitment is done through Railway Recruitment Center (RRC) and Level-2 and above recruitment is done through competitive examination through Railway Recruitment Board (RRB).
What is the plan of Railways?
Railways says that both Railways and Army are strong institutions of the country. Army soldiers are known for discipline, technical skills and leadership. Many soldiers who retire at an early age have good experience, which can be used in other areas of the country as well. Railways said on this arrangement that this new arrangement is an important step towards providing a better and secure future to ex-servicemen and firefighters. This will not only provide them employment, but will also strengthen the country’s development and security system.
