On Tuesday (September 9, 2025), in view of the situation on the second day of the broad GEN-Z protest in Nepal, the Government of India appealed to its citizens to postpone the journey of the neighboring country till the situation there is normal. The Ministry of External Affairs (Mea) has issued an advisory in this regard. The Ministry of External Affairs has also requested Indian citizens present in Nepal to avoid getting out on the streets and take precautions.

In the statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said, “In view of the changing situation in Nepal, Indian citizens are advised to postpone the journey to Nepal till the situation is normal. Indian citizens present in Nepal are advised to stay in their residences, avoid getting out on the streets and take care.

The Ministry of External Affairs advised Indian citizens to follow the security advice issued by Nepal officials and the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu. The Ministry of External Affairs said, ‘If any assistance is required, please call the following helpline numbers of Indian Embassy in Kathmandu: 977 – 980 860 2881; 977 – 981 032 6134. ‘

Prime Minister of Nepal resigns

After the large -scale anti -government demonstrations due to banning social media, Nepal’s Prime Minister K.K. P. Sharma Oli resigned from his post on Tuesday (September 9, 2025).

Expressed grief over the death of youth during protest

India said in a statement that many youths died during protests in Nepal. This has hurt him deeply and hoped that these issues will be resolved peacefully in Nepal.

India-Nepal’s air travel canceled

Amid anti -government protests in Nepal, Air India, IndiGo and Nepal Airlines canceled their flights from Delhi to Kathmandu.
