Due to the oil crisis in Pakistan, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has announced a cut in the allowance. Addressing the nation, the Prime Minister said that the entire region is in the grip of conflict and we are trying to deal with it. He said that government offices will open only 4 days a week and 50 percent of the employees will work from home. However, this decision will not apply to banks. Apart from this, two holidays were announced in the school.
Pakistani PM said, these decisions were necessary to deal with the global fuel crisis arising due to the ongoing war between America, Israel and Iran. The entire region is in the grip of conflict and we are making political efforts to reduce this crisis. Referring to the security challenges present on Pakistan’s western borders (Afghanistan border), the Prime Minister said, ‘The country is facing terrorism. Our armed forces are dealing with the situation effectively.
Shehbaz Sharif, who praised US President Trump, is badly trapped in the war in the Middle East. At this time, neither Iran nor any of the Gulf countries are paying any attention to him, yet Shahbaz Sharif is trying to remain in the headlines by giving statements. Addressing his public, he said, ‘I have discussed this war with the leaders of the friendly countries and have assured them that Pakistan stands shoulder to shoulder with them in this difficult time. I condemned the retaliatory attacks on friendly Gulf countries.
He said, ‘The price of crude oil in the international market has suddenly increased from about $60 to more than $100 per barrel. Pakistan depends heavily on oil and gas supplies coming from the Gulf countries. The government has taken tough decisions to handle the situation and reduce the impact of the energy crisis. The recent increase in fuel prices in the country was a difficult decision. The government will reduce the fuel allocation for vehicles used by government departments by 50 percent for the next two months.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif further said that 60 percent of vehicles of all government departments will remain off the roads for two months to help save fuel. He has also announced that government ministers, advisers and special assistants will not take salaries for the next two months, while parliamentarians will face a 25 percent pay cut during the same period.
The Prime Minister also announced a ban on foreign travel of federal and provincial ministers, advisers, special assistants and government officials, except for matters considered essential for the country. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also announced a complete ban on official dinners and iftar parties, while seminars and official events will be held only at government venues to reduce costs.
