‘Government will take away citizenship…’, Mamata Banerjee’s big allegation on Center before Bengal elections

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has made serious allegations against the Central Government and said that after the upcoming elections, people’s citizenship can be taken away in the name of NRC and Census. While releasing the election manifesto of Trinamool Congress, he also claimed that an atmosphere like ‘unofficial President’s rule’ has been created in the state even before the elections.

Allegations regarding NRC and census
Mamta Banerjee said that the central government is planning to revoke the citizenship of people through NRC and census after the elections. He appealed to the people to remain alert against any such attempts.

Claim of ‘unofficial President’s rule’
The Chief Minister alleged that due to the actions of the Center and the Election Commission, ‘informal President’s rule’ has effectively been imposed in the state. He says that this step has been taken to influence the atmosphere before the elections.

Allegations of delimitation and election conspiracy
The Trinamool chief claimed that the central government is planning delimitation in collaboration with the Election Commission, so that the BJP can get an advantage in the upcoming elections.

Question on transfer of officers
Mamata Banerjee alleged that the Election Commission is transferring state officials at the behest of BJP, so that a favorable environment can be created before the elections. He also said that this could encourage smuggling of money and weapons.

SIR and name removal issue
The Chief Minister claimed that a particular community was being targeted during the SIR process. He said that out of about 60 lakh cases, 22 lakh have been settled and about 10 lakh names have been removed from the list, which need to be re-examined.
