In Shimla city of Himachal Pradesh, there is a continuous increase in incidents of stray dog bites. To curb these, the Shimla Municipal Corporation has launched a large scale vaccination, sterilization and digital recording campaign. Under which unclaimed dogs will be worn by QR code and GPS based leases.

With GPS, the corporation will be able to change the location of dogs and keep a close watch on the behavior. The program has started from August 15 and will be run for the next 25 days.

3 thousand dogs will get vaccinated
Mayor Surendra Chauhan said that during this time, about 3000 dogs will be given rabies vaccines, dogs will be granged. The complete digital record of each dog will be prepared. Dogs whose nature is aggressive or cutting people repeatedly, such dogs will be kept in dog hut.

In this campaign, animal experts from Maharashtra, Goa and Delhi are also helping. Under the leadership of DR Anil, the team is going to different wards and catching dogs, vaccinating and studying their behavior and food habits. Four special vehicles have been deployed in different areas.

100% sterilization is target
The mayor said that this is the first of its kind campaign in the municipal bodies of the country, in which digitization is also being done along with vaccination and sterilization. The Municipal Corporation’s target is 100% sterilization, which will reduce the number of dogs and cutting incidents in the city. Apart from the campaign, awareness will also be brought among the people.

The mayor said that the decision of the High Court is also being studied so that this campaign can be run successfully under all legal provisions.

Terror of stray dogs and monkeys in Shimla
During the last one year, more than 3000 cases of cutting of dogs and monkeys have been reported in different hospitals of Shimla city. Due to this, children and women have been imprisoned in homes in Shimla. In Shimla, 8 to 10 cases of monkeys come daily. By the way, the estimated figure of death of dogs in India is about 48 persons per year.

In January, 134 people were bitten by stray dogs in Shimla city. Dogs have been bitten by dogs 124 in February, 163 in March, 145 in April, 134 in May, 117 in June. These cases are based on day Dayal Hospital. Apart from this, many people have got their treatment on many dates on the bite of dogs.
