Grok: Grok, the chatbot of Elon Musk’s AI company xAI, is in the midst of controversies these days. Reports have claimed that this bot is even sharing home addresses, contact details and family information of common people even with very few inquiries. Futurism’s investigation revealed that this AI model integrated into X (Twitter) is proving to be dangerously capable of finding and revealing anyone’s address.
According to the report, Grok is not only revealing the personal addresses of famous people but also of common citizens. In one case, he even immediately provided the correct address of Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy. What is even more worrying is that Groke continued to repeat the same behavior with unpopular people as well.
Home addresses started appearing as soon as names were entered.
During investigation, Grok gave shocking results by simply typing (name) address. Out of 33 random names, he gave the current home addresses of 10, old addresses of 7, and office addresses of 4 without hesitation. At times, it even suggested users to do a “more accurate search” despite matching wrong identities.
In some chats, Grok gave users two options, Answer A and Answer B, both of which included names, phone numbers and home addresses. In many cases, even after merely asking for the address, he would prepare a complete personal dossier. This behavior is in complete contrast to other AI models like ChatGPT, Google Gemini and Claude, which immediately refuse to provide such information citing privacy rules.
Big threat to privacy
According to xAI, Google has filters in place to block “harmful requests,” but the report notes that these filters do not explicitly prevent stalking, stalking, or the sharing of personal information. Even though xAI’s policy states such use is illegal, Grok’s responses indicate that these security filters are not working properly.
It is likely that Grok provides this information by combining public data available on the Internet, social media links and data-broker platforms. But the problem is that this AI combines those scattered data in a jiffy and presents it in an easy and dangerous way.
