The murmur regarding the by-election on Umreth assembly seat in Gujarat has intensified. Notification notice will be issued on 30 March 2026 for the by-election to be held on one seat in Gujarat. The last date for filing nomination is 6th April. Whereas April 7 is the last date for scrutiny of nomination papers.

Along with this, candidates can withdraw their names till 9 April 2026. The voting date for the by-election is 23 April while the counting of votes will take place on 4 May 2026. According to the Election Commission, the election process will have to be completed before May 6, 2026.

Umreth seat became vacant due to the death of Govindbhai Raijibhai Parmar.

Umreth assembly seat has become vacant after the death of Govindbhai Raijibhai Parmar. After this, it has become necessary to hold by-election on this seat. Umreth assembly seat falls in Anand district. Last week in the month of March, Govindbhai Raijibhai Parmar died of a heart attack. He was about 74 years old.

BJP state president Jagdish Vishwakarma had also arrived to pay tribute to his party leader. He was representing Umreth seat in the 15th Gujarat Assembly. Govindbhai Raijibhai Parmar started his career as the Sarpanch of Chikhodra Gram Panchayat. He also held the responsibility of minister in Gujarat government.

Govindbhai Raijibhai Parmar had won in the 2022 elections.

In the 2022 assembly elections, BJP had expressed confidence in Govindbhai Raijibhai Parmar and he was successful in winning the election by 26,717 votes. Earlier, in the 2017 assembly elections also, she had won the election on BJP ticket. The total number of voters in Umreth assembly seat is more than 2 lakh 71 thousand.
