Gujarat kachchh earthquake: A 3.4 magnitude earthquake occurred in Kutch district of Gujarat on Wednesday evening. This information was given by the Earthquaker Research Institute (ISR). A district disaster response officer said that there is no notice of any casualty or loss of property due to this. ISR in Gandhinagar said that the 3.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 6.55 pm and its center was 12 km north-north before Bhachau in the district.
District officials said that no loss of life and property was reported. Kutch district is located in the “very high risk” seismic region and there are often earthquakes of low intensity.
There was an earthquake in Gujarat on 23 April 2025. The National Earthquake Science Center (NCS) recorded the intensity of the earthquake in Kutch on that day. The NCS said that the center of the earthquake that occurred at 11.26 pm was located 160 km north-west from Rajkot. The depth of the earthquake was 20 kilometers.

On 26 January 2001, there was a 6.9 magnitude earthquake in Gujarat, which was near Bhachau in Kutch. According to GSDMA data, the earthquake affected the entire state including Kutch. It was also very damaged to the economy of Gujarat. About 13,800 people died and 1.67 lakh people were injured.

The 2001 Kutch earthquake was the third largest and second most devastating earthquake in India in the last two centuries. The earthquake in Kutch destroyed a large land.
In the 2001 earthquake, Bhuj had a huge destruction. About 10 thousand people were killed. 95 percent of the buildings were destroyed or not able to live due to the earthquake. 38,653 houses in the city had partially or completely collapsed. The earthquake also destroyed 8 schools, two hospitals and 4 km of roads in Bhuj.
