Gujarat’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Govind Parmar died on Friday after illness. Party leaders gave this information, Govind Parmar was the MLA from Umreth assembly seat of Anand district. He breathed his last at the age of 72.
Govind Parmar’s health deteriorated at home recently, after which he was taken to the hospital in Anand. Even after treatment for several days, his health did not improve and he lost the battle of life on Friday. The news of the demise of the BJP MLA created an atmosphere of mourning in the party. Many leaders have expressed grief over his demise.

Gujarat BJP President Jagdish Vishwakarma said in a post on ‘X’, ‘Heard the sad news of the demise of popular Umreth MLA Govindbhai Parmar. It is prayed that God may rest his divine soul in peace and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this loss. After the news of the demise of the BJP MLA, his supporters and a large number of BJP leaders started reaching there. He also expressed grief over Parmar’s demise.

Govind Parmar was MLA four times
Govind Parmar, born in the year 1953, has been an experienced leader of Central Gujarat. He was elected MLA four times. Elected to Gujarat Assembly in the years 1995, 1998, 2017 and 2022. For the first time, he reached the Assembly 30 years ago by winning the election as an independent candidate from Sarsa seat of Anand district. In the 1998 assembly elections, Parmar retained the Sarsa seat on Congress ticket.
Later, after losing the election, Parmar joined BJP. Sarsa seat was merged into Umreth assembly constituency in 2008. In the 2012 elections, he faced defeat. But, in the next two elections in 2017 and 2022, he won from Umreth on BJP ticket.
