A plot to derail a passenger train by placing stones and cement pillars on the railway tracks was foiled in Gujarat’s Amreli district. The loco pilot showed wisdom and applied emergency brakes otherwise a major accident could have occurred.
Police said that the incident occurred on Thursday evening between Khijadiya Junction and Chital railway station when Bhavnagar-Porbandar passenger train (59560) was passing through Khijadiya village.
Stones kept with the intention of causing an accident!
He said that the loco pilot saw the stones and cement pillars placed on the track, which were clearly intended to cause an accident, and he immediately applied the brakes, thereby averting a possible accident. Railway police and local police teams reached the spot and started investigation.

Amreli Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kharat said, “A major accident has been averted. This appears to be the work of local miscreants.” Police have registered a case against unknown persons.
