Effect of minoxidil on small children and infants
If a person uses Minoxidil medicine and a small child or infant comes in contact with it, it can have a serious impact on the health of the infant (0 to 23 months old). According to reports, children who have come in contact with this medicine have seen the problem of excessive hair growth on their bodies. This problem has been reported in more than 45 children across the world, in which in 44 percent of the cases the babies came in contact with this medicine accidentally and about 22 percent of the children had side effects of this medicine during the mother’s pregnancy, that is, when the mother was pregnant, she had used the medicine Minoxidil.
Effect of minoxidil medicine on eyes
If we talk about global data, about 1,660 cases have been reported due to the use of Minoxidil drug, in which serious effects on the eyes have been observed due to the use of the drug. These include swelling on the eyelids and difficulty in seeing. Of these 1,660 cases, about 25 cases have also been reported from India.
On which product did CDSCO take action in India?
Taking cognizance of these matters, India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has banned the registration of an anti-hair loss product named QR 678-Neo. The product was registered under cosmetic products regulations in India, but investigation found that it was being promoted for hair regrowth after chemotherapy, which is illegal, as cosmetic products are not allowed to be sold like medicines.
