When should one drink turmeric milk?
However, a common mistake many people make while drinking turmeric milk is to drink it just before sleeping. According to health experts, there should be a gap of at least one to two hours between dinner and sleeping. Turmeric milk is rich in calories and drinking it immediately and sleeping can affect the digestion system. According to dietician Charu Sadana, the curcumin present in turmeric is rich in anti-inflammatory properties and it also helps in digestion. But if it is consumed immediately after a heavy meal or just before sleeping, it may increase the production of bile in some people, leading to acidity or acid reflux.
These people may face problems
According to a report by Medanta, even though turmeric milk is considered beneficial for health, some people should take special care while drinking it. People who have gallbladder problems should avoid turmeric milk, because turmeric can increase the secretion of bile and this can increase the problem. Even if you take blood thinner medicines, turmeric should be consumed in limited quantities only. Turmeric can slow down the process of blood clotting, which when combined with medicines can increase the risk of bleeding. People who have iron deficiency problem should not consume too much turmeric milk, because turmeric can affect the absorption of iron in the body.
Apart from this, if you are pregnant, suffering from liver related disease or are planning any surgery, then definitely take doctor’s advice before taking turmeric milk regularly, consuming it only in the right quantity and in the right condition is considered safe and beneficial.
