haq movie story
‘Haq’ is inspired by the real-life case of Mohammad Ahmed Khan vs Shah Bano Begum, which was a turning point in the legal and social history of India. The story of the film is based on Shazia Bano (Yami Gautam Dhar), who is abandoned by her husband Abbas Khan (Emraan Hashmi), who marries a second time and refuses to support the child. When Shazia pleads for justice, Abbas responds by calling her triple talaq. Her struggle becomes a nationwide debate on personal law, women’s rights and equality before law.
