Suparn Verma’s courtroom drama film, “Haq”, is one of the much awaited films of 2025. This film is inspired by the Shah Bano case of 1985. Written by Reshu Nath, the film “Haq” is produced by Vishal Gurnani, Juhi Parekh Mehta and Harman Baweja under the banner of Junglee Pictures in association with Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios. The film stars Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles while the supporting cast includes actors like Sheeba Chaddha, Danish Hussain and Aseem Hattangadi.

There is a lot of buzz about rights. Due to which the film is expected to have a good opening. Many trade experts say that this film can start with a collection of 3 to 4 crores on the first day of its release. After this, due to word of mouth, its earnings may increase significantly on weekends.
Court rejects petition to ban release of Haq movie
Let us tell you that yesterday the Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court had rejected the petition filed by Shah Bano’s daughter Siddiqui Begum Khan. In this petition, a demand was made to ban the release of the film. In fact, Shah Bano’s daughter Siddiqui Begum had alleged that the events related to the life of her mother Shah Bano have been depicted in the film Haq without permission and beyond the facts. He had demanded from the court that the screening of the film be banned.
At the same time, advocates Hrithik Gupta and Ajay Bagadia, appearing on behalf of film producer Junglee Pictures, had argued in the court that the film is based on a fictional story and its purpose is not to hurt the sentiments of any person or community. The court agreed with the arguments of the producers and rejected the petition. After completion of the hearing in this case on Tuesday, the court had reserved the decision, which was pronounced on Wednesday.
What is the story of Haq?
Haq is inspired by the 1985 legal battle related to Shah Bano Begum. The story is about a woman who silently refuses to accept injustice after being abandoned by her husband and not getting maintenance allowance. Based on the landmark judgment of the Supreme Court, ‘Haq’ is the story of Shazia Bano, who gets married to lawyer Abbas Khan. However, after several years of marriage and three children, Abbas remarries and brings Saira home. One day, he declares triple talaq and leaves Shazia. She then fights for justice and maintenance for her children and wins the case, making it a unique case in the history of the Indian justice system. She paved the way for Muslim women to come forward and demand their rights.
