A three-match ODI series is to be played between India and South Africa from 30 November. The performance of star all-rounder Hardik Pandya and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is difficult in this series. In fact, in view of next year’s T20 World Cup, all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who is recovering from a thigh injury, may remain out of the ODI series. Considering the workload, Bumrah may remain on rest in this series.
Considering managing the workload of key fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah is also likely to be rested from the three-match ODI series, as it does not have much importance in the preparation for the T20 World Cup. Hardik suffered a thigh injury during the Asia Cup T20 in Dubai in September and could not even play in the final against Pakistan."text-align: justify;">For this reason both star players will not play in the ODI series
News agency PTI has written in its report quoting a BCCI source, Hardik is currently recovering from his thigh injury. He is doing his RTP (return to play) training at the Center of Excellence. At present, after returning from the thigh injury, he needs to gradually increase his workload and playing 50 over matches straight away would be risky. Till T20 World Cup, Hardik will focus on T20 International matches.
It is believed that Hardik will first prove his match fitness for Baroda in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and after that the Mumbai Indians captain will play the T20 International series against South Africa and New Zealand. There are also three ODI matches to be held against New Zealand, but the importance of 50 over cricket is limited till the T20 World Cup. After the next IPL, the focus of senior players will be on the 2027 ODI World Cup cycle.
