In the last 50 years, the Indian men’s team has won the ODI World Cup twice. But the women’s cricket team had been in existence for 52 years, but the trophy drought was not ending. Ultimately, India achieved the feat of becoming world champion by defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the final of the 2025 World Cup. Now captain Harmanpreet Kaur has followed the same trend, which players often do after winning a big tournament. He has shared a picture of sleeping peacefully with the trophy.
Harmanpreet Kaur shared the photo of gold with the trophy on social media. Along with this, he gave a motivational caption in the caption, “Some dreams are such that billions of people see them together. That’s why cricket is everyone’s game.” In the picture, Harmanpreet is wearing a T-shirt, on the back of which it is written, “Cricket is everyone’s game.” Gentleman is also written on it, but it has been crossed out. Before Harmanpreet, veteran footballers Lionel Messi and Rohit Sharma have also shared a picture of sleeping with the World Cup trophy.
Team India’s ’52’ connection
The Indian team defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final match on 2 November. Since the Women’s ODI World Cup started 52 years ago, the Indian team has achieved the feat of becoming world champion after 52 years. Apart from this, 52 was seen at many places in the match. Actually, there was a partnership of 52 runs between Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti Sharma. On the basis of this partnership, India saved wickets in the middle overs.
Harmanpreet Kaur also shared a picture clicked with the World Cup trophy at the Gateway of India. Let us remind you that MS Dhoni, who was the Indian captain after the 2011 World Cup win, had also got his picture clicked at this spot.
