Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur shared her first social media post after winning the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 and this post has created a stir. After becoming India’s first female World Cup-winning captain, Harman’s post was not only full of celebration, but also had a cryptic message which caught everyone’s attention.
Harmanpreet shared a picture of herself with the trophy on Instagram, along with the T-shirt she was wearing which read, “Cricket is not just a gentleman’s game.”
That means cricket is no longer just a “gentleman” or “men’s game”, but also a women’s game. Harman’s message was clear that women players have now achieved the position where they deserve equal respect and recognition in cricket.

India performed brilliantly in the World Cup final. Team India won the Women’s ODI World Cup title for the first time by defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the match played at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Batting first, India scored 298 runs for 7 wickets. Shefali Verma added 87 runs, Deepti Sharma added 58 runs and Smriti Mandhana added 45 runs. Whereas Richa Ghosh gave a strong finish to the team by scoring 34 runs in 24 balls.
Chasing the target, South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt scored a century, but the team collapsed for 246 runs in 45.3 overs. Harmanpreet Kaur has now become the first captain of India to win the ICC Women’s World Cup.
