Buying land in Haryana can be more expensive now, because the state government is going to implement the revised collector rates of property from the month of August. These rates have been put on the website of different districts of the state as a draft. Objections were sought from the public till 31 July.

What is collector rate?

Collector rate i.e. the minimum rate on which any property is recorded in the government record. According to this rate, registration fees and stamp duty are collected. If this rate increases, then buying land will become directly expensive.

Gurugram’s biggest bounce

There is a tremendous jump in the rates of land in Gurugram. In the villages, the land, just two acres from the highway, was earlier Rs 25,300 per square yard, now it is proposed to yards Rs 45,000 per square. A 25 percent increase in Carterpuri area and 19 percent in Old DLF Colony is proposed.

What is the situation in other districts?

  • Rohtak: Rates will be increased from 5 to 25 percent.
  • Panchkula: There is a huge increase in many sectors.
  • Industrial Area: There is also a preparation to increase the rates here.

The government says that these changes are being made according to the market rates, so that there is no disturbance in the registries.

Congress opposed, Hooda’s attack

Former Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda has described this decision as a direct attack on the poor and middle class. They allege that the government has increased the collector rates by 10 to 145 percent.

He said, “In Fatehabad, where the first land rate was Rs 15,000, now it has been reduced to Rs 35,000.” Hooda also accused the government that in December last year, the collector rates were huge increase, and now the rates are being increased for the second time in 8-9 months.

Chief Minister replied

Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini said that rates were increased even during the time of Congress. He claimed that new rates will not put burden on people, as they match the rates running in the market.

‘Poor and middle class will break back’

The Congress says that there was usually only 5 to 10 percent increase in the collector rate, but now different heavy rates are being installed for every street, locality and village. This will break the back of the poor and middle class and their dream of buying a house will be overcome.
