A golden opportunity has emerged for the youth of Punjab to get government jobs. Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) has released the official notification for recruitment to the post of Horticulture Development Officer (HDO). The Commission has announced to fill a total of 101 posts under this recruitment. This is a great opportunity for the candidates who want to make a career in the agriculture sector. The application process has started and interested and eligible candidates can apply online till 14 November 2025.
To apply for these posts of Horticulture Development Officer, candidates must have B.Sc. degree in Agriculture from a recognized university in India. Along with this, the candidate must have studied Horticulture as an elective subject during graduation. Candidates who have M.Sc. degree in Agriculture or other related higher qualification will be given preference in the selection process. The minimum age of the candidates has been fixed at 18 years and maximum age is 37 years. However, reserved categories will get the benefit of age relaxation. This relaxation will be given as per the rules of Punjab Government.
What will the selection process be like?
Candidates will be selected for this recruitment in two stages: written examination and interview. 120 multiple choice questions will be asked in the written examination, which will be of total 480 marks. Four marks will be given for each correct answer while one mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. In the examination, questions will be asked from General Knowledge, Reasoning, General Awareness and post related subjects. Candidates successful in the written examination will be called for interview for 60 marks. Final selection will be made on the basis of combined marks of examination and interview.

General category candidates will have to deposit a total of Rs 1500 (Rs 500 application fee + Rs 1000 examination fee) as application fee. Whereas SC, ST and OBC category candidates of Punjab will have to deposit Rs 750 (Rs 500 application fee + Rs 250 examination fee). All fees will be paid through online mode only.
