The political atmosphere regarding the Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections has intensified and all the major parties are in the fray through continuous rallies and statements. In this sequence, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis made a direct and sharp attack on Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray during a public meeting organized in Amrit Nagar, Ghatkopar. This statement was given on January 10 in Mumbai, where Fadnavis raised questions on the ongoing politics through interviews and meetings.
The Chief Minister said in his speech that in view of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections, on one hand Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray are continuously giving media interviews, while on the other hand allegations are being made against the government. Responding to these allegations, Devendra Fadnavis said that the politics of some leaders is no longer clear. According to him, an attempt is being made to mislead the people of a big metropolis like Mumbai.
Don’t talk about Mumbai after coming to Mumbai – Devendra Fadnavis
Taking aim at Uddhav Thackeray, Devendra Fadnavis said that recently two brothers had gone to Nashik and were talking about Mumbai there. He raised the question that when these leaders are in Nashik, they talk about Mumbai, but after coming to Mumbai, they neither talk about Mumbai nor hold public meetings here. Calling it a political contradiction, the Chief Minister asked to put it before the public.
He feels ashamed to speak the word ‘Hindu’ – Devendra Fadnavis
The Chief Minister further said that the Nashik meeting was started with ‘My dear Hindu brothers and sisters’, but the word ‘Hindu’ was missing in the Mumbai meeting. There the address was given as ‘My dear patriotic citizens’. Fadnavis raised the question whether there is shame in speaking the word ‘Hindu’ in Mumbai or whether it is being avoided for the vote bank of a particular class. He linked it to vote bank politics.
