Head coach Gautam Gambhir is furious at former Indian cricket team selector and veteran player Kris Srikkanth. Gambhir says that it is shameful to target a 23-year-old budding cricketer. In fact, a few days ago, Kris Srikkanth, through his YouTube channel, had raised questions on the decision of taking Harshit Rana on Australian tour. He said that Harshit Rana is in the team only because he is Gambhir’s ‘favourite player’. The video clip of this statement of Srikant also went viral.
Gautam Gambhir got angry
On the other hand, Gautam Gambhir said in the press conference after the conclusion of the India vs West Indies second Test, “It is all shameful that you are targeting a 23-year-old player for running your YouTube channel. Harshit’s father is not a former chairman, a former cricketer or an NRI. He has played cricket on his own merit and will do so in the future also. If you talk like this about a 23-year-old player on social media, what effect will it have on his mind?”
If your child…
Gautam Gambhir did not stop here. Taking a direct aim at Kris Srikkanth, he said, “If your child starts playing cricket, imagine how you would feel if he is abused. He is a 23-year-old child, not a 33-year-old. Criticize me, I can tolerate it but doing this to a 23-year-old boy is unacceptable.”
What did Kris Srikkanth say?
Chris Srikkanth had raised questions on the selection process of Team India and said, “You do not select many players who perform well, but bring in the team those who do not do well. The biggest example of this is Harshit Rana, who helps Gautam Gambhir and hence is in the team.”
