The actor said that the industry often ignores the emotional hard work involved in a performance. Apart from the grueling 16-hour shifts, Vikrant also stressed the mental stress of playing complex characters in four films in a single year, including 12th Fail and The Sabarmati Report. He realized that his performances were becoming boring and decided that he needed to “start from scratch” to improve himself as a performer.
Why did Vikrant want to take a break from work?
Vikrant talked about his role as a father. The actor’s son, Vardaan, was born while he was working continuously, and the actor admitted that he felt deeply embarrassed by his absence. He recalled that he saw his son’s first words and first steps only in a video sent by his wife Sheetal Thakur. Vikrant said, “What’s the point of success if you can’t enjoy the moments you’re working for?”
He recalled the pain of not being able to see his son call him “Papa” for the first time. This awakened them to the realization that even though commercial success and blessings are short-lived, the early years of their child’s life are priceless. During his seven-month break, he chose to focus on being a husband and father, understanding that work can wait but family cannot.
