Fungal infections : The first report of the World Health Organization (WHO) on fungal infection is very shocking. This new report, which came on 1 April, has said that there is a huge shortage of medicines and test machines for dangerous fungal disease. In the report, the immediate need for new research and development is given to deal with them. The report said that fungal diseases are increasing rapidly, which are a matter of concern.

Among them, common infection- like Candida, which causes mouth and vaginal thrust, its treatment is becoming difficult. These infections affect seriously sick patients and weak immunity. These include patients under cancer chemotherapy, HIV victims and people with organ transplant.

Life may be in danger

The report quoted Dr. Yukiko Nakatani, Assistant Director General of Antimicrobial Resistance of WHO, as saying that aggressive fungal infections endanger the lives of the weakest people, but in many countries there is a lack of facilities to avoid them. Not only is there a lack of new antifungal medicines and investigation, but the district hospitals of countries with lower and medium income also lack fungal tests. This deficiency of investigation means that the cause of the problem of the people is not known, due to which the right treatment is not done.

What is WHO report

The most important fungus in WHO’s fungal project list (FPPL) is dangerous, whose mortality reaches 88%. Lack of treatment and lack of testing machines, lack of antifungal drugs and slow and difficult process for new treatment have made it quite challenging.

The WHO report on antifungal drugs emphasizes that in the last decade, only four new antifungal drugs have been approved in the US, European Union or China. Currently, 9 antifungal drugs are in clinical trials for use against the most dangerous fungus.

However, only three medicines are in the third phase, which is its last trial. Which is the opinion that these medicines may come soon. 22 drugs are in pre -pricly trial phase, which are not right now given the dropout rate, dangers and challenges associated with the earlier development stages.

How dangerous fungal infection

Fungal infections can usually range from light to serious. Some minor infections are easily cured, but some can be dangerous and fatal. Light fungal infection may contain skin infection, mouth or private parts infection. Lung infection, asthma, sinusitis may occur at the medium level. At the same time, black fungus (muckermicosis), invasive candidiasis, cryptococcal meningitis, which are found in HIV-AIDS patients, can occur in dangerous and fatal fungal infections.
