During the meeting his health suddenly deteriorated, after which he was immediately taken to the hospital. However, despite all the efforts of the doctors, he could not be saved. Let us tell you how long after a heart attack can someone’s life be saved?
How soon after a heart attack can a life be saved?
Often people have this notion that a patient cannot be saved after a heart attack, but the reality is completely different from this. Survival after a heart attack completely depends on the kind of treatment the patient receives within the golden hour, i.e. the first hour. If proper treatment is started at this time, the chances of survival of the patient increases significantly.
Dr Pramod Kumar, heart disease expert, Fortis New Delhi, says, “The first 60 to 90 minutes after a heart attack are very important. If the blood supply to the heart is not restored during this time, then damage to the heart muscle starts. After about 6 hours, this damage can become permanent, because by then many parts of the heart stop working.” He further explains that for this reason, it is very important to take the patient to the hospital within 60 minutes as soon as symptoms of heart attack appear. This gives doctors enough time to do the necessary tests and start treatment immediately, which plays an important role in saving lives.
When is it necessary to see a doctor?
Doctor Pramod Kumar explains that not only serious heart attack, but also mild chest pain should not be ignored. Many times a heart attack is silent, in which symptoms like mild chest pain, dizziness, sweating or shoulder pain are seen. These are often dismissed as gas or normal pain, whereas they can also be signs of a minor or silent heart attack. In such a situation, the safest step is to contact the doctor without delay.
